The terms of use for the BFDC Interrogator are outlined in the BFDC online user agreement.
BFDC Registration
The BFDC Interrogator is the web-based software tool that provides easy access to, and standardised interrogation of, the BFDC database to produce critical soil nutrient levels and confidence ranges for the interpretation of a range of soil test methods using a uniform statistical methodology.
The BFDC Interrogator (and BFDC database) cannot be used to make fertiliser recommendations. The BFDC Interrogator is targetted at:
- The Fertiliser companies.
- Agribusiness.
- Consultants.
- Public sector advisors.
- Researchers.
All users of the BFDC Interrogator must be registered. To register, a user must successfully complete a half day face-to-face BFDC training workshop or an online training course. The training workshop describes:
- The 'Making Better Fertiliser Decisions for Cropping in Australia' project.
- Data collation and statistical methods.
- Using the BFDC Interrogator.
- Using a calibration to develop a nutrient management strategy.
The terms of use for the BFDC Interrogator are outlined in the BFDC online user agreement.
The training workshop can be done on line. You have NINTEY DAYS TO COMPLETE THE COURSE from the time you register to begin the course.
Please contact BFDC training if you would like to attend a face-to-face training workshop.
Participation in a face-to-face training activity should cost about $300-400 per person. This includes attendance at the workshop and the trainer's costs. It does not include any travel costs that you may incur. Please note that the actual cost will depend on the:
- Trainer.
- Number of persons in a workshop (10-15).
- Facilities and geographic location.
Detailed data queries
If you are a registered user and seeking to query the BFDC database in more depth than can be done using the BFDC Interrogator, you can contact us with your request.
Access will be granted or denied at the discretion of the Project Leader based on the following criteria:
- All requests must meet the requirements of the BFDC user agreement (see Publications area of the website).
- If a request does not meet the requirements of the BFDC user agreement then the owners of trial data must be consulted.
- Appropriate recognition must be given for any use of 'the data' as per the BFDC user
agreement:
NSW DPI (2012) Making Better Fertiliser Decisions for Cropping Systems in Australia: BFDC database, NSW DPI and the Grains Research and Development Corporation, access date, www.bfdc.com.au.
The final decision rests with the Project Leader, and the owners of trial data will be considered in any decision.
